Im scheduled to get my buckle taken out. I had an eye trama 2 years ago where a metal rod punctured through my eye. I had 19 stitches across my cornea, iris destroyed and my lens came out time of injury. My retina dr. Advised me to get the SB in my left eye, as a precautionary procedure in case my retina detached. It turns out that my retina was perfectly fine and he saw this at time of surgery. This was good news, however it was still put in. My eye has not been the same since buckle. It has a bulge out look to it. It does not move with the same grace as my right eye. And I suffer from double vision. I'm going through with the surgery to avoid issues down the line. Plus I feel better to have the same dr. Remove it who is familiar with me and my eye. I'm nervous but hopeful that there could be some positive changes.. Even though none are guaranteed .. Some questions .... (27 year old female)
1. Will my whole eye ball return to it normal size. (not being squeezed by buckle) or does it stay the same shape after removal of SB *- NOT visually from the outside appearance -but my whole eye balll it's self. from a dr.s stand point and experience if comparing a before and after.
2. Will my eye lid return to a normal less droopy lid look?
3. Will I still feel the buckle under my lower eye when i feel for it by pessimg with my index finger? Or after removal i will not feel the bump anymore?
4. Will the feelings of fullness /bulging and redness decrease after SB removal?
5. How long is recovery from SB removal?
6. Any positive results or positive experiences from removal?
Thank you
