Second macula off detachment in same eye

Hi, I initially had a mac off detachment in right eye with hole at 1 o'clock.  After 2nd vitrectomy for 6:30 o'clock hole and 2nd detachment  (after failed gas), I had a silicon oil (denseron) tamponade put in.  It was removed 2 months later, replaced with an air bubble.  Ater a few days with air bubble, I suffered another macula off detachment as another hole had developed at 6 o'clock..  I was told the 2nd mac off was "shallow" with little fluid.  My question is how much more damaging is this to the macula and fovea?  And also, how much would this affect BCVA?

Let me start out by saying your most important eye is your LEFT eye.  Have it checked frequently and if you have increase of floaters, or flashes or loss of field of vision, treat it as an emergency. With a RD in one eye the change of a RD in the other may be as high as 5%.  As to your question the prognosis is very guarded, recovery of full vision is unlikely. it may take 6-12 months to know the final visual acuity. And as I said take ultra good care of the other eye, live a healthy lifestyle and avoid activities with risk of eye injury. Always wear eye protection when needed.

Thanks for the response.  I was wondering though if I might press though on how much more damaging is a 2nd macula off in my case?  I was told that it was "shallow with little fluid."  Also operated on within one day.  Do these factors mitigate and would I at least have "useable" vision in that eye?  TIA
As much as you would like, it is not possible to generalize or prognosticate on level of visual recovery.
Thank you for taking the time to respond!
