8 weeks into recouperstion from vitrectomy

This is not a question but a statement of my condition and observations over the last eight weeks. What was supposed to be a simple 1 hr vitrectomy surgery under conscious sedation turned into a nightmare becase of the inability of the anesthesiologist to to control the dosages of the meds. I went into the excitement phase of anesthesia and had to have a crash intubation and switched to a general anesthesia. I developed a pulmonary edema and did not wake up until almost 48 hrs later and a pulmonologist removing my tube. My retinal surgeon told me that I would have to lie still, head down at least 17 hrs/day and my pulmonologist told me to keep moving around to improve lung function. I did both...yea right!!!. Nevertheless my eysight has continually improved but my lungs have not--Still having some wierd pains behind the surgical eye-radiates to my scalp, affecting taste, but not really painful; and, very uncoffortable and undescribeable-like sending a galvanic response through out the right side of my face--If anyone out there has had similar please respond..

Sounds like you had a real rough time. The pains around the eye are not unusual for a scleral buckle.

Not everyone can be done under local.
