Severe tearing 3 days after pterygium removal

My husband had his pterygium surgery on 21st Feb. His eye specialist had said he should recover in a day and could even start driving in 2-3 days. But my husband's eye is still sore. When he has his patch on, his eye is ok. Every time he tries to take it off to get his Tobradex drops, it tears "a lot" and is also sometimes sticky that he is not able to open his eye fully. Its extremely light sensitive and he doesn't like a light on. Its stressful for us since he needs to return to work and his eye is not recovering as good/fast as we were told. (He did have a healthy tissue placed in place after the pterygium was removed and his doctor is supposed to be experienced and a top ophthalmologist). Are these post surgery symptoms normal? And is there a worst case recovery time? We were told the surgery went well and the very next day, he had a check-up and was able to read some alphabets even if with a lot of strain.

Dear Sir,

My son when he was born,he had tearing eyes,Somewhere when he was 15 years old he had pterygium in the that same eye.He had went through a few surgerys to have that pterygium removed. The petergium seems to be growing again and again even after surgery. He has now lost 98% of his sight of that eye.His tearing has stopped.Would like to know if the surgery had to be done at the root of the ptergium- at the nasal maybe- to stop it from regrowing.Today his age is 22.

Please Please advice and Help.

Every case is different.  Please consult your surgeon.  He may have an exposed suture or a corneal abrasion.
