I think you should stop worrying about 3-D movies, TV, etc. As even a cursory view of the many extended problems patients have with IOLs espcially multifocal IOLs for everyday acitivies like reading, driving, night vision, crafts, shopping, etc its much more appropriate to consider these everyday real world problems. 3-D is niew technology when applied to movies and TV such that there is little experience with IOLs with them.
Use the search feature and look up "monofocal IOLs, monofocal vision, mini-monofocal, I understand your concerns, others have them also.
It's there. Others find the discussions, you can also.
Last I have to say on the subject.

And to add to that question, what about monovision, which I understand is one eye near and one far? Would the brain accomodate for that when watching a 3D movie, or would it just no longer work.
Dang brand new 3D TV.
Thanks once again.
What about a multifocal? Would I be able to view a 3D Movie if I got a Restore Multifocal?
I'm trying to get an idea of exactly what this operation will do. I am almost so scared I am almost ready to stop operation. I can see out of left eye it is carrying the weight, the right eye can see but not read, even close up, due to the cataract in the way.
So confusing, I appreciate all your help, please if you could let me know ? Thanks again.
1. NO
2. YES
Any studies on 3D and IOLS are a long way off. Use Google and read about all the "normal eyes" that have trouble viewing 3D movies and 3D television.

Thanks. I can't seem to find anything by searching, say, for 3d Movie IOL.
What about monovision, I understand there is more clarity there.
My question, I think, is with monovision, would I still be able to see the 3D?
I think I am panicking at this point as this cataract situation has moved too fast for me to accumulate enough information for me to feel comfortable making any decision yet. So, I think the monovision lens may be fine set for far, other for near, and then the mid range is all blurry? Or when one shifts movement from one to the other do you get a blur? And you can't see 3d at all?
Sorry for my confusion. IMHO, this board needs stickies and arrangements of posts so the kind doctors who reply do not need to keep repeating that such and such has been discussed before and the person should search. If I, for one, always do try to search first prior to asking... but certainly I keep missing things here.
So two questions,
Can I even see 3D with monovision?
Is there any blur between looking far to near with monovision?
Thanks for any help.
This is one of the most common topics discussed here and there are scores of very informative discussions which you can access with the search and archives featues.
To watch 3-D TV you most assuredly will need to wear progressive bifocals for that activity. Unless you got the most perfect result with multifocal IOLs in both eyes and all your astigmatism corrected
