Treatment for optical nerve damage

My brother had a head injury in 2005. He had internal bleeding that was treated with surgery.  His CT scan did not show any thing else but as the time went by he was loosing vision. He lost peripheral vision from both eyes by 2007 and went from 1 doctor to other with out any diagnoses or pin pointing the cause. Finally in 2008 went to the same doctor who had initially removed his blood clot. He found out that there has been a tumor in the brain which was removed. (2 walnut size) But his vision is not cured it only got worst. He had better vision prior to the surgery. His right eye which was better prior to the surgery has minimal vision left (almost none). His left eye whcih was worst than right eye has 20/400 vision. His condition has been declared as legally blind. My question is if there is any treatment for optical nerve damage. I have more questions relating to the same issue for now I want to find out about the possible treatment. Stemcell inplant or anything at all. Please help. He is 45 years old with 3 kids and a wife. He is a driver by profession and can not do anything else.

Your state will have rehabilitation services available which can provide your brother wtih the education and training in another field so that he can seek employment.  This is often better - both psychologically and financially - than seeking for disability.
