Because any IOL transmits more light than the human lens, especially when its cataractous many people complain of light sensitivity after cataract surgery. In fact cataracts are like having a pair of sunglasses on INSIDE the eye. After years like that it often months and months to the light sensitivity to see normal.
Also many people, me included, that do not have cataracts have problems with sensitivity to light. These often have big pupils, blue/gray/green eyes and fair complexions.
My final comments would be that it usually gets better with time and find your self some cool hats to wear if you don't want to wear sunglasses, tinted prescription glasses or photochromic lens (photogray, transitions)

Thanks for your reply, the purpose of the implant was to get rid of glasses.
I do now use sunglasses, but that causes other problems in that the pupil dilates a bit more and I get blurring and poor quality vision. I now see that Lentis have changed their lens design.
You would have to check with company website to determine what part of the spectrum is blocked by their lens.
Consider wearing custom made glasses with UV-A, UV-B blocking coating.
