Ulcer on the Optic nerve

Hi. My friend has been told she has a ulcer on her optic nerve.Can any one please elaborate for me . Thank you.Cath278.

Cornea ulcers can be totally harmless and assymptomatic (examples those due to contact lens or a dry spot on the cornea) to a fulmunating ulcer that destroys the eye. So I can't tell you where in that vast spectrum she is.

Dear Dr.John,as usual, you are correct.Sorry! Got the wrong information.Should have read, ulcer on the cornea.She is a 25 yrs old girl with a history of styes in the infected eye. Can you give me any information about this please? It it serious? She is experiencing some visual problems as well as pain and redness. Thank you ! Cath278.

Ulcers do not develop on the optic nerve. The term is incorrect and improperly used.
