Vitrectomy surgery

I had a vitrectomy for a detached retina Feb.27th. I saw a dark line as I recovered in the one eye. The dark line bent downward in the next few days forming a circle with a dark dot at center. Whole thing jiggles as I move. I believe it’s getting smaller. I’m on eye drops and don’t need to position my head anymore at this time. My concern is the dark circle which I can see through. It’s like a lens and magnifies anything I hold under it. What could this be?

I have had victrectomy in each eye for retina detachment, followed by 2 weeks of positioning on my side for two weeks (both eyes separate occurrences).  To me, and merely a guess, you may be experiencing the effect of a gas bubble that was injected and will get smaller until it’s gone.   Mine lasted 3 months.  After that I got cataract almost immediately.

I wouldn’t hesitate contacting your surgeon.  They expect calls like this.  I think I had mine on speed dial :).   My questions were always answered and if there was concern they had me come in.

As xltjim reported I had a gas bubble after having a ERM peel/vitrectomy in my LE and it would, until it was absorbed over the next month or so, jiggle some as my head position changed and tended to magnify images seen through it.
I didn't have surgery or a gas bubble but I agree with both

While it is not possible to answer your question exactly, the description as a circle suggests a Weiss ring. This is the ligament that used to go around the optic nerve when the vitreous was attached through it.  Googe Weiss Ring and also 'images' to see what they look like

Just spoke with the nurse. She said it’s the gas bubble and will eventually disappear over the coming weeks.
Hope that is the case
