When does one acquire Diabetic Retinopathy when they are a diabetic?

When some one has become a diabetic how long does it normally take for a person to acquire diabetic retinopathy if indeed they do get it. Thank you

No it is not true with glaucoma. Glaucoma is not one disease but a group of perhaps 15 different types of pressure problems.  Most people never go blind the most common type of glaucoma does its damange over decades, however angle closure glaucoma can blind an eye in less than 24 hours.

Thank you doctor, is this the same with Glaucoma? How long does it take a person to acquire full glaucoma when first symptoms persist or in better words how long does it take a person to succumb to glaucoma if nothing is done about it?

Usually it takes 5 years from first onset. Bear in mind first onset is often unknown and some people can have diabetes 5 years without being aware of it
