The last few times I've tried to get new eyeglasses I've had problems. It seems as though the vision would be clearer but only in a much narrower range. If I turned my head even slightly off-center the vision would blur significantly. When I wore these glasses, by the end of the day my eyes felt strained. I went to a new optometrist and even paid for the most expensive 'digital' Nikon 'seemax' power progressive 1.67 lenses but it was the same problem, even after they returned the lenses and had them redone. Finally I quit trying and went back to an old pair of glasses from several years prior and I felt I could see much better! Now I've worn these so much that the coatings are starting to show signs of deteriorating so I know I need to get another pair of glasses again. I don't know what to do. I don't want to go through the same painful exercise.
I'm 52, my prescription is quite strong, I have astigmatism and I need bifocals.
The latest prescription I was given was
R Sph -7.00 Cyl -1.75 Axis 67 Add 2.00
L Sph -8.25 Cyl -1.00 Axis 131 Add 2.00
The old prescription which I seemed to be better off with was:
R Sph -6.5 Cyl -1.25 Axis 65 Add 1.25
L Sph -7.5 Cyl -0.5 Axis 130 Add 1.25
Any advice?
Thanks
You might want to consult with a Eye MD ophthalmologist that specializes in referactive surgery. You might consider a refractive operation like LASIK it could make your glasses much thinner, your vision without glasses much better. You would still need glasses but not nearly as thick and less strong glasses are easier to switch from old to new or different pairs.
