corneal dystrophy

I have asked you a few questions before...I have ocular rosacea, glaucoma, Sjogrens. chronic corneal abrasions due to the dryness. I talked with my eye dcotor last week and my eyes had very bad sratches on my cornea. He thinks like you suggested Basement memebrane, corneal dystrophy. He gave me the Tranquil goggles and I have slept in them for a week. This morning my eyes are hurting and vision blurred. Does this mean the goggles are not going to work? He also mentioned a corneal lens surgery that would have to be done in Boston. Do you know of this surgery and explain?
Thanks for all of your help.

1. Discuss this with your Eye MD but the goggles are to make the eye better and less pain. If they make it worse it means its not working. Use the search feature and look up corneal erosions.
2. Ask your Eye MD to do a literature search on using tetracycline by mouth and topical steroid drops for several weeks to see if it helps the cornea "scratches".
3. Geneally you are talking about PRK a form of eximer laser used to resurface the cornea and bandage contacts for several weeks. It is often helpful.

Lateral tarsorrhapy is used for severe cases where things are going down hill fast. It can often prevent scarring, pain and blood vessels growing on the cornea.

Consider a second opinion from another cornea surgeon Eye MD. Your Eye MD would probably be happy to refer you.

I appreciate your responses. This has been so hard to cope with. Having eye pain almost everyday interferes with everything in my life. My doctor also mentioned lateral tarsorrhaphy. Would you consider this the last resort? Should all the symptoms be blamed on corneal exposure?
Thanks
