Right Eye Sharper And Brigher.

I had my eyes tested today and the optician put my contact lens strength up from 5.00 in both eyes to 5.50 in both eyes. When I got home I noticed that when looking at things from a distance, my right eye was seeing things in much sharper quality as well as being brighter than my left eye.

Before getting my eyes tested I had noticed that my left eye was not as good as my right but I thought that was just because I needed new lenses.

Is this something I should be worried about?

I took your advice and went to the opticians again today and they gave me a different type of lens to wear.

I tried the lenses today, and they have kind of made my right eye (the one that had brilliant vision before) equal to the one that didn’t see things as sharply, and when I use both eyes, my vision isn’t as sharp as the other lenses and things seem slightly darker. Also, I still notice a slight change in sharpness from one eye to the other.

Would it be damaging to my sight or eyes in anyway if I continued to wear the lenses that are greater in change from one eye to the other, or should I wear these new ones that equal my eyes out more?

In that case you'll need to take it up with your contact lens fitter.

Sorry, im not explaining myself properly.

I noticed that, with my contact lenses in, my right eye saw things a little bit brighter and sharper than my left, but as I needed to go to the opticians anyway for a check up, I assumed it was just because I needed a stronger contact lens prescription.

So I went to the opticians yesterday and he changed my contact lens strength from 5.00 to 5.50, for both eyes. Now the difference between my left and right eye is a lot more distinctive, my right eye makes things brighter and a lot sharper than my left.

I also notice a slight change between eyes when I wear my glasses, but again, it isn’t as noticeable as it is when I wear my new contact lenses.

What you said was that one eye sees better with glasses and the other with contacts. A disease, amblyopia or just eye dominance would not be like that.

Thanks,
I only wear my glasses on mornings and at night, but I do see some difference in my left and right eye with them on as well, dose this just mean I need two difference strength lenses in them too?

If the situation is different with glasses and contacts then that indicates its not a fundamental difference in the strength or health of the eye. Discuss with your CTL fitter hopefully the LE can be cleared up some.

Forgot to say...

When I noticed the difference before I got my eyes tested, the change from one eye to another didn’t seem to be such as drastic as it is now.
