dr Hagan I need your advice

Excuse my english and if I misunderstood your answer because my mother language is finnish.I was amblyopic kid and treated with glasses I also had strabismus when I was not wearing them.i also had astigmatism and I was hyperopic.i had lasik surgery some years ago.The strabismus totally went away with the corrective surgery and most of hyperopia and astigmatism. Now I can see 80% of the amblyopic eye and 100 % of the dominant. But I have realised now whith no glasses that I use more my dominamt eye and am worrying that it will slowly make my amblyopic eye weaker and weaker and losing acute vision by time.I dont want to get at 20 years with useful vision only at my dominant eye.what should I do?please help because my vision is so important for my life and my profession.

Your amblyopic eye should not worsen due to not being used as much as your dominant eye since you are an adult.

The vision "falling" off is only a problem at ages 6-10 or less while the eyes are developing "visual maturity"

To preserve you vision live a healthy life, don't smoke, if you drink alcohol do so in small amounts, watch your weight and diet, exercise, deal with stress in a healthy manner. Have your eyes checked yearly if possible.

IF you have children or grandchildren they are much higher risk of having the same problems and should be checked about age 2 to 3 years old.
