Can software protect our eyes from computer screen ?

I feel eyes stressed while reading the computer screen , but as a programmer I have to read it a lot...

I heard that masking it with red color might help,
so I wrote a small chrome extension myself

One day I received a question from one person, he had multiple concussions due to do sport injuries and he have an added blue blocker on his prescription glasses. He asked if my software can help ...

I do not know how to answer him...

I have no medical background, so I wonder if anyone has done some research on this?
I mean , a scientific research on the relationship between computer color and eye health.

The extension just added a very light red mask on my webpage,
which makes me "feel" not that stressed compared to nothing added,
but it is only a  " vague feeling" , or maybe a psychological comfort.

Any instructions are greatly appreciated.
I wish I could help people comfort their eyes through software if possible...

I think this is electronic 'placebo' effect.  Lots of research is done to make computers more comfortable good contrast, variable lighting and font size. Many of the things that create discomfort are medical: computer use causes decreased blinking which causes dry eyes, fixed focus at same distance for long time creates focus muscle fatigue,  use involves convergence of eye muscles which is problem for some people, people have the psychological strain of the task involved, there are problems with uncorrected or poorly corrected refractive error and there is weakness of focus as we get older (presbyopia).  So lots of things involved.
