laer treatment for optical nurve problems

Hi,
   My mother is  having eye floaters problem . But i have read that it will not affect the eye vision, but her vision decreases in  left  eye alone, when we discussed with the doctors they say that it happens due to optical nurve weakness.they ask us take laser treatment for this laser treatment. Can we go for this laser treatment? what information we should know about laser treatment  before taking it ?

My mother is 50 years old .What is the root cause of optic nurve problem ?  Currently my mother's vision decreases in  one eye, will it affect  both the eyes in future ?what kind of treatments we can take ?Please advise

Get a second opinion.  I know of no treatment for optic nerve disease using laser.  There is laser treatment for glaucoma (an optic nerve disease from elevated eye pressure).
