macular hole recovery

It has been 20 days since my vitrectomy to repair a macular hole.  I followed all instructions regarding positioning.  10 days after the operation, my doctor told me that the hole was closed, the gas bubble is more than halfway down but I am still not able to see clearly.  On top of blurry and slightly distorted images I see a small light dark spot , which flashes when I blink.  Can you tell me if this isnormal  part of recovery, or something else is wrong?   I am 57 and otherwise very healthy.

Gas bubble dissipated completely exactly 5 weeks after operation, however, vision is still blurry and mildly distorted, although it seems slightly better than pre-surgery.  Doc did not explain to me, but thanks to medhelp, I now realise that recovery of vision, if ever,  might takes months.  Keeping my fingers crossed and praying a lot.  Seeing doctor again next week, hope for some good news, but am prepared for the worst.
