Dr. Thanks for your input. The Ultrasound revealed a 2.8cm right lower pole thyroid nodule that appears fairly well circumscribed with a peripheral hypoechloic halo. These findings are consistent with a benign adenoma. However, the lesion is hypovascular with some central increased vascularity. Given this finding and the factthat it is large -greater than 1cm. they want a FNA. There are several small focal benign lesions less than 1cm the largest being 3.9mm diameter within the left lobe that are most assuredly benign incendental adenomas. The MRI was done this morning and of particular concern is the dilated eye which has improved 50%. Can a lesion metasticize to brain area effecting eyes? That appears to be the biggest risj at this point. Otherwise most of these lesions are benign as I understand this better. thx Dr.
Dear rojolo,
A dilated pupil and double vision are symptoms which require a thorough work-up.
It is proper that she get an MRI as these symptoms could relate to the nerves from the brain which control the pupil and eye movements. Make sure you take a list of questions to your doctor so they can all be answered to your satisfaction.
