I just noticed my husband has opaque/grayish crescents at the top of both his eyes...what could this be?

Most of the causes of a gray ring around the edge of the cornea are NOT serious. Get in to see an Eye MD to allay your fears. Find one at www.aao.org

The beginning of arcus of the cornea. This is cholesterol being deposited in one layer of the cornea. After 70 its normal but in people younger than that it can represent high blood cholesterol. He should do two things:

1. Have a general physical and have your MD draw a fasting lipid profile then discuss the results.
2. See an Eye MD ophthalmologist for a complete exam and to confirm this is a arcus.
