optic nerve

hi im a 25yr old female. about 3 months ago i woke up at 5am with an intense feeling that something was in my eye. My eye was watering really bad and it was painful. I felt my optic nerve tense up and it started pulsating. I washed my eye out with water and it went away after 10mins. I then went to have an eye test at the opticans few weeks later and they told me my optic nerve was swollen and blurry. i didnt mention about the previous episode as i forgot all about it. I am going to see a specialist for them to have a look at it. I would like to know if anyone thinks it could be related to when i felt it pulsating or if it could be something else? The opticians think it could be benign cranial swelling of the skull and if it isnt that it could be something serious. im hoping its nothing too bad. I havent noticed any visual changes. i do see black dots regularly though. Thanks.

The symptoms of tearing and pain are usually not associated with optic nerve disease.  It may be unrelated to your symptoms.  Wait to see what the specialist finds.
