Cataract removal after RD surgery

I have some cataract after a RD surgery 8 months ago. The surgeon thinks that the cataract is mild and I don't need to do anything to it. He believes that the vision of the surgery eye with 20/40 is not bad.
I was in HK and saw a few other eye doctors. As I can see 20/25 with a pin hole, 2 of them think I should consider to remove the cataract as this can resolve the -2.5D difference of myopia of the two eyes. They suggest me don't need to wait anymore as I am suffering from this problem every day.

Just want to know if there is any rule of thumb that how long we need to wait to have cataract surgery safely after scleral buckle surgery. They also mentioned that a mono-focal lens should be used for patient having RD surgery before. Is there any complication to use multi-focal lens for patients having RD surgery before ?

I would not worry about the size of the incision for the IOL.  You can implant a Restor in 2.2 mm incision,  Crytalens, 2.5 to 2.9,  Tecnis multifocal, about 2.9 mm.

A multifocal IOL spits light, therefore a macula which does not see normally will result in poorer vision compared to a monofocal or accommodating IOL.

Dr Oyakawa:
I heard that more mono-focal lens have size less than 1.8 mm. Will 1.8 mm incision have a better recovery and less complication than 3.0 mm incision ?
What kind of lens below 1.8 mm  are available (or popular) in North America ?

You mentioned a multifocal will be okay with vision 20/25 or better. Does it mean the vision will be a factor to choose multifocal or not ?
Thanks

You can have cataract surgery and if you vision pinholes to 20/25, a multifocal would be ok.
