dilated iris

My mother had cateract surgery 3 1/2 weeks ago.  Her pupil is still dilated.  She has had many follow-up checkups with the opthamologist to see if her retina is detaching, and it is not.  The doctor said he has not seen this before and has offered no solution to her problem.   Can you offer any solutions to this condition?

This can occur.  Was there elevation in the intraocular pressure in first or second day?   This could cause damage to the pupil and cause permanent dilation.

Yes, the eye pressure was high just after surgery.  The opthamologist decreased the eye pressure on the second day after surgery.  He also had to use "hooks" (for lack of better term) to dialate the eye in the first place.  Could this have caused the continued dilation?
