strabismus/ambliopia problem

Hello everyone,
I have a few questions regarding some eye problems.I am 23 and suffer from amblyopia in my left eye(very poor vision - only see shapes ,colors etc -vision 20/200) and strabismus in the same eye.The stabismus is caused by my right eye beeing farsighted( +3,5D) thus causing accommodative esotropia.
I've been to quite a few doctors the past few years , most of them recommended strabismus surgery.I have been- and still am- against this approach (been consulted by a doctor from the us who expressly told me NOT to have strabismus surgery because of the optical nature of my strabismus).I am currently wearing glasses (3,5D -both eyes). My vision in the good eye is 20/20.
I've been reading about ICLs and clear lens exchange(the latter has been recommended to me by a doctor to solve the refractive problem and thus the strabismus).Due to the delicate nature of the situation(only one functional eye) I am very reluctant to have an ICL or to abandon my natural adaptation(CLE).
I would appreciate your answers (esp. the MD's on the board) and anyone with a similar problem or any useful advice.

thank you for your time.

You are very young and the lens in your eye will grow.  There is also less anterior chamber space in a hyperope compared to a myope.  I do not believe hyperopic ICLs are approved in the U.S.

The main complication of an ICL is a cataract.  Also, some patients have glare from the  PIs (small hole put in the iris).

CLE is a more invasive procedure than ICLs or LASIK/PRK.  Also, at your age you not get enough accommodation with currently available lens.

I know that - all doctors who consulted me advised against Lasik/prk for the exact same reason.

The only thing I would remotely consider is LASIK or PRK.  You are at the limits for good results and hypeopic lasik/prk is not as successful compared to myopes.

Strabismus surgery would only be for cosmetics.  I would not risk your only good eye.

Are you eyes straight with the glasses??
