Cataract on weak nerves Eye

My mom is 65, got her cataract (SICS) operation 2.5 weeks ago.   Her vision was ok before this operation, but now she can't read or identify phone numbers on phone etc and her vision is worse than b4.   Her eye doctor told her she has weak nerves.   Please help, if this can be fixed somehow.  Our condition is pathetic, because we think we made a mistake to do cataract on working eye.   Her doctor thinks its normal to recover that long.  Is it normal, or is it because of weak nerves...

"weak nerves" is not a medical diagnosis, says nothing about which nerve. Only your surgeon can answer these questions or a second surgeon you could take her to for a second opinion.

Also, its been 3 weeks already, there was only little improvement, but Doctor says it takes some more time and everything is improving.  How long can it normally take.

Thanks for ur response.  My worry is, is it hard for vision to come back when the nerves are weak?  Does cataract and weak nerves made it less vision than before?  Please help.

Just to note, my mom was able to read before, but now she can't :(  Please help.

It's always re-assuring when two consulting physicians agree on diagnosis and treatment.

Cataract surgery is usually optional (elective) and is usually done when vision is really a problem and the cataract is the main cause.

We got a second opinion on the surgery and the second doctor said the same.  The surgery seems fine, but since the eye nerves are weak, it may take longer to recover the vision.

P.S.  Maybe I didnt do a good job explaining, the vision before surgery was little blurry and still doable...but now its worse.

1. Something is wrong. You do not have cataract surgery if your vision is "OK" you have cataract surgery when your vision is "NOT OK" and cataracts are the cause or main cause.
2. In a situation like this getting a second opinion if you are not comfortable is the best way to go.
