swollen irritated eyelid

I have been having periods where my upper eyelid will start out itching badly, then it will progress to red & painful followed by severe swelling.  This will last a couple of days from start to finish & then go away on its own. The periods have occurred three times over the past 8 mos spanning both winter & spring months. No other allergy symptoms are present. Any ideas as to what this could be?

its EXCEMA!!!! get your DR. to prescribe you Eledel and use it at your first sign of symptoms and you can keep it under control, and never have problems again. Of course it will come back (most likey when you have bad allergies) but if you just put a little Eledel on it you wont end up having trouble :)

a pharmacist told me she had the same problem and that it was a fungus, (dirty eye makeup) use Lamasil (athletes foot creme)  and a little moisturizer because it will dry the eye out worse but it does seem to be working so far(past couple of days)
