#4 should have read IF it is infections.

Transmission is from contact with tears.  Do not use same towels and avoid contact that may transmit tears.

1) Many causes from infections, trauma, contact lens wear, dry eye, etc.  This is a non specific term--means inflammation of the cornea.  2) Irritation, blurred vision, redness, photophobia, etc, 3) Depends on the cause. 4) Yes, it it is infectious.
