Chlamydia trachomatis and conjunctivitis

Dr. Hook,
There was a previous post that said that you didn't know of Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) being acquired by genital means. I am a microbiologist and I was trying to help a person here on MedHelp and read on the CDC website under C. trachomatis and details and symptoms and it says "Sexually acquired Chlamydial conjunctivitis can occur in both men and women through contact with infected genital secretions.

So I would like to know who is right the CDC or you on this matter? I have thought that you could acquire CT from genital secretions. But your answer said "not that you were aware of."

So I would like to know if you would agree with the CDC here or not.  I just want to know what to tell this person.
Thank you,
mkh9
