Ovulation will automatically get your cycles back...so yes, if you ovulate on clomid, you will get your period about two weeks after ovulation. Unless you're pregnant, of course ;-) Best of luck this month!
It's just for ovulation. Your doctor has to prescribed another medication, like Provera, to start your cycle. Good luck!
You need to have your cycle start before you can even begin to use the Clomid. Does your doctor think your cycle will start on its own even though you haven't had it in 6 months?
Msteri is right in that you will need to get your period started before you can start the clomid pills, but once your cycle starts, and is you ovulate, you will automatically get your period after that...or even better, get pregnant!
What happens is that after ovulation, your progesterone levels go up...and if you get pregnant, they stay high throughout the pregnancy...but if you don't, they will go back down about two weeks after ovulation and you will get your period. That is why many women take provera (a progesterone supplement) to start their period, since it "tricks" your body into thinking you ovulated and therefore brings on your period when you stop the pills.
Hope that makes sense :-)
Progesterone won't work for me, we have tried it 4 times and nothing. She said it was because i wasn't ovulating and if i ovulate i should have one unless i'm pregnant(hoping)
If you don't get your period, how are you going to start the Clomid on days 5-9 of your cycle? It doesn't seem likely that your period will just start up on its own since you haven't had it in over six months. Were you prescribed another medication to induce it? Clomid can only help you ovulate. It doesn't make your period start at all.
No she didn't give me any other meds. She just said that the clomid would help me get back on track. She said that since i haven't had a cycle or ovulated that i could just go ahead and take the clomid. I go back on the 19th for the blood work they do after clomid. She said if it doesn't work to get me preg. this time that we would just up the dose.
Ok so if you have had no cycle, what day does she want you to consider day 1? Is the doctor you're seeing an RE?
She just told me to start taking them that day, and put it in the computer that i was on my 5th cd now i go back on the 19th of this month for my 20 or 21 day progesterone check. My doc is a obgyn.
Oh okay. Hope it works for you this month!
Now i'm a little confused. I took the clomid for supposed 5-9, was supposed to be ovulating soon, but instead I started af. Not sure what this means, does it mean that the clomid worked? Does that mean I won't ovulate again since i've taken the clomid before i had a period? help please i have no idea
You should call ur doctor and let her know you took clomid days 5-9 but AF has started now. You may have to take it on days 5-9 of current AF to ensure that you'll ovulate or she may want you to use OPKs with this AF to see if you ovulate on your own this cycle. She really should have had you wait for AF to start clomid instead of taking it and not knowing where you actually were in your cycle. I know this is very frustrating for you but if everything works out you'll be very happy in a few weeks :)
it's the weekend can i call my doc at home
Well i think you could wait until Monday since today is just CD1 and you won't be on CD5 until Wednesday. That's enough time for her to call in your prescription.
Thank u u have been very helpful with all this i am grateful to u
No problem. Good luck to you!
well i called my doc and they said to just come in on the day we already scheduled for the progesterone labs. They aren't going to do another cycle of clomid yet??? just a question can u ovulate twice in one month, could that be what happened
Well, that wouldn't be what happened because the Clomid would not have made you ovulate yet, but you could have ovulated on your own a few weeks ago and that's why your cycle started. After you ovulate, there's about 14-16 days (luteal phase) until you period. So you could still ovulate for this cycle but it's kind of tricky because you don't know if the Clomid would have any effect on your current cycle or not but you can always take OPKs to track your ovulation and then BD if you get a positive OPK. I hope that made sense lol.
It did make sense. When should I start taking the opk I know they say around day 10 but should i start sooner since its' all messed up?
Yeah I agree that you should start a few days early just to make sure you don't miss your window.
I go in tomorrow to get the Progesterone test done. The thing is i'm not sure why i have to get it done.
They want to check to see if you ovulated.
Did you get your results yet?
not yet, this office is strange. The doc wasn't in so they said they would call me with the results. So I'm just waiting
