Can sperm fall out after iui?

Probably a stupid question that's been asked a hundered times.  But for the fun of it, please tell what you think.

I did my first ever IUI today and I am kinda bummed out.  My follicles were "matrure?" at 16 and 15 mm (?), my estriodol was at 204, and I wanted to wait another day or two so they could grow a bit more.  But my bloodwork reavealed that I was ovulating today so the doc. called us back in to do the IUI stat.  Well, my dh's sperm count was 14 mil (washed.)  Just another one of those things I had wanted to be higher.   So then, after it was all over, I layed there for 5 minutes like the nurse said then when i stood up and got dressed, i got really wet down there.  I think those whopping 14 million sperm came out.

Opinions?

The Dr. told me that after IUI your cervix will secrete a thick mucus plugging it up! Also when they spin and wash the sperm, they are using only the good healthy swimmers, thus they are not the "special" ones so they know to swim up! LOL YOUR GOOD! BFP this month for sure :)

Yup, i agree with the girls above! : ) they have to move over the cervical mucus you have already in there to do the procedure, therefore just your cervical fluid/mucus comes out after the IUI.. the one time our IUI worked was when i got off the table and ran around the rest of the day.. the other times i tried to lay around and take it easy and they didn' twork! ha!   GOOD LUCK!!! HOpe you have a big BFP waiting for ya at the end of the tww! : )

HI I have had many IUI's the sperm cannot fall out, because they bypass the cervix and inject the sperm into the uterus, hence the name intra uterine insemination, I always thought the exact same thing though, like omg all my DH swimmers just came flying out.. good question, and good luck to you, lots of sticky baby dust.

LOL.  I guess that's a good question though.  But I'm pretty sure those swimmers made their way already.  But remember, they're already past half the battle of getting to the uterus by bypassing the cervix so it may not matter now.  I know some has to still run down when you stand up so don't worry about it.

Sooooper doooper sticky baby dust!!
