I agree, you need to see an RE. After 24 mos, it's time. An OB can only go so far. The way a cervix feels can be deceiving. The cervix has a "dimple" and it can feel like an opening. Even when your cervix is open, it is so small it can be hard to tell.
It isn't uncommon to have different length cycles if there is no ovulation. The demise of the corpus luteum is what tells the uterus to shed it's lining. If there's no o, there can be a delay in af. An RE would be able to help find the reason for annovulatory cycles.

Have you seen a fertility doc yet?? They test for everything. I couldn't get pregnant for 2 yrs and finally seeked help from a fertility doc and I ended up needing surgery. I had adhesions in both tubes and a slight case of endo. I would have never guessed and my gyno never mentioned any of that. I found out I was pregnant 5 months after my surgery. I am now 34 weeks. I suggest anyone having problems to see a fertility doc because most of the time they can save you tons of trouble and depression. Good luck!!!
I think you should make an appointment with an RE, reproductive endocrinologist. They specialize in infertility and can help you to achieve your goal of becoming a parent. They know a lot more about tests that need to be done and treatments.
Good luck!
