D&C

I am a 28 year old who has been married 10 years, I have never been able to conceive. However at the age of 19, I started to experience severe cramping. I was then diagonses with Desmenoria. I was never check excessivly. My doctors alway's gave pain meds and send me home. I would have to go to the emergency room to be injected with hard cord pain meds. Finally I decided about 3 months ago to really look in to my infertiltiy. I have since change doctors and she decide to give me a vaginal untrasound, once that took place they discovered a polyp of 1.43 cm. I am schedule to have a D&C. How long and what are my chances of getting pregnant? Could the polyp have anything to do with my infertilty?

I agree w/Heather.  I wouldn't be at all surprised if you had endo.  & w/that the only way to know for sure & take care of it is w/lap. surgery.
I had it in my left ovary & all over (in n out!) of my left tube.  It was totally deformed :(
Every month for a little over a year I would have severe pain, & it took me to the ER a couple of times.  My whole stomach would be hurting so bad, & I would be in so much pain in my lower abb & lower left backside.
IDK much about polyps, but 1.43 cm doesn't seem terribly big......my endo cyst was 8 cm

You need to be your own advocate, & ask a lot of questions & get as much testing as possible.  Your still young, so you have plenty of time to figure out your fertility!

Good luck!

Hi Sue!

Unfortunately, that's an almost impossible question to answer (I wish I could, though). Your chances of getting pregnant and how long it takes depends on lots of different factors...some we have control over and some we don't. I'm not really sure how much the polyp contributed to your infertility, but it's definitely a step in the right direction. I'm sure your doctor can give you some more info on that. Once you've had your D&C, you might also want to ask your doctor about a few additional tests...like an HSG to make sure your tubes are unblocked and a few blood tests to check your hormone levels. Also, I wonder if the pain you've been experiencing could have anything to do with endometriosis. If so, that that could have been a contributing factor to your infertility as well.

Best of luck with everything!
