Antagonist Protocol?

Has anyone here ever been on an IVF antagonist protocol (no lupron)?  What did you think?

I think this is the first protocol I've ever mentioned on this forum.  I've actually read medical journals staing that a antagonist protocol is best for avoiding OHSS.  I think I'll trust my doctor since he has been in RE for 31 years and is the head of a large University Research center.  SOme people I know who have done this protocol mentioned getting significantly better egg quality.

My Re will do this next time that i do IVF. I had the normal protocol last summer and it didn't stick cause i OHSS and we had to do a frozen cycle. This time we have to do a fresh one and my Re will do this protocol. He said that we will start with injections and instead of trigging the ovulation with HCG will do with Lupron. No idea how that works.he says that doing it with lupron are less chances of OHSS. I trust my re he always says what is good or no even if that hurts you.

This is whay my RE was going to have me do, I had not responded all that well to using lupron with my follistim so she thought it would be better to use my own body's efforts to ovulate on my own with stim medications and then use Antigon injections to keep me from ovulating until they were ready- unfortunatly my cycle was put on hold due to some testing that needed to be done on my dh, but I would be interested to see if anyone else has has success with this IVF protocol- I wish you luck and would love if you would update me on how things go for you.........

lmcrt- they still supress ovulation but not until the follicles reach certain size or the estrodial reaches a certain number, they usually also use a stimulation medication to help increase the number of follies.

I wouldn't recommend it. If you don't supress ovulation with Lupron then there won't be enough time for many follicles to grow. You want as many large follicles as possible before retrieval time. You RE seems to have some odd protocals, have you checked their success rates. My RE has a 55% sucess rate which was awesome compared to many others I checked out. I would just stick to what they know works. Birth control,Lupron, stim drugs,medrol,z-pac,estrogen,and progesterone.
