Hi Yvette!

I'll be 39 in a few months and like you, got pregnant in 2006 for the first time, but was unsuccessful in the first trimester due to an ectopic pregnancy.

Now that I"m pushing 40, I'm considering other alternatives. I'd really like to hear more about your experience with IVF...and the steps you took in the beginning to get started..

I sent you a friend request.. I hope you don't mind. :)

If it's an option, I'd jump to IVF at this point.   This way right away you know how many eggs your ovaries are capable of producing and getting fertilized.   Then you have a better shot because the transfer the best.

I fooled around with IUI a couple of times once it failed, once it worked, but pregnancy failed.   Then we went on to IVF (but with donor eggs I was 42 1/2 by then, and that worked for us).   We would have done IVF too but we were tired of all the miscarriages I had (5 total) prior to the donor egg effort.

I personally think IVF is the route to go. . . although it's completely your decision.  And who knows. . . Maybe IUI would work right away for you.  At 39 though, time is of the essence, and IVF has better success rates.
