At what week or month in pregnancy does RE have you stop estrogen pills in IVF?

Hello everyone, I am curious and hoping someone could help. I am 8 weeks 6days and 2 weeks ago my RE had me stop my estrogen without checking bloodwork but continue the progesterone. Is 6weeks the usual? Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

Thank you for the info. Sometimes these doctors dont explain anything and I get so confued. I ask questions but never get real answers. So it is nice to come out here and get some answers.

Do you know anything about BETA numbers?

8/31/09 - 14 days past retrieval BETA 16
9/3/09 - 17 days past retrieval BETA 32
3rd test tomorrow
The numbers are doubling but not how they would like it.

I took it until 11 weeks when I stopped both estrogen and progesterone. My RE did say, however, that the estrogen is not nearly as important as the progesterone, and like Helen said, some women don't use it at all. I was on the patch, so I basically just changed it every 3 days.

wfaMiracle: It also says not to take progesterone while pregnant, but without it, an IVF pregnancy would most likely fail. So it's totally fine to take both hormones in early pregnancy. It's basically the exact same hormones produced by your own body, it's just that in an "artificial" cycle like IVF, your body does not produce the same amount of hormones as in a normal cycle...especially progesterone, since the follicles are all removed at retrieval. Hope that makes sense.

I am also still on this drug. I am 4 weeks and 3 days along. On the bottle it states do not take while pregnant. So why are the doctors still giving this drug when pregnancy as been achieved?

Hi Helen thank you very much, I am just trying to make sense of why I lost two babies. I do not understand except, I stopped the estrogen, I changed to the progesterone suppository and I had a huge blowup by myself. I say by myself because my husband absolutely would not argue with me. In fact he told me to calm down I was stressing the babies out but my hormones were out of control. I just do not understand. They were so healthy, beautiful and the same size 7mm or was in cm? At the last us. Why did my RE have me come back in 2wks instead of one?? I think I just want to know "could this have been prevented"?
Hope all is well with you, you really try to give so many of us guidance, an ear and a feeling of knowing someone care and I apologize because I have been in the bed for weeks so I do not know what has been going on with you???

I stopped earlier, at 4 weeks.  In fact some women do not even take estrogen.  I guess it's optional unlike progesterone which is a necessity.
Congrats on your pregnancy!!!!
