Thanks for being there :)
I'm soooo glad to hear that you are using the shield. I have a question for you... at the hospital they told me that I need to pump for 15 minutes after each feeding except at night I can skip once or twice to get some rest but the reason was b/c when using the shield the baby doesn't stimulate your breasts enough to bring on the milk. Did you hear that? Are you pumping too? It's kind of good b/c I am already starting to freeze my milk which will help when I have to go bac to work, even though I plan to pump there too. I just \wonder if I am going to have to pump as long as she uses the shield or if once my milk is flowing good I can stop and only pump if I am gong to leave her. I don't know. This breastfedding business is HARD! And so very confusing. Do you plan to go bac to work? If so I imagine that is coming soon. :( When I thin of that day I just sit and cry. I can't imagine leaving her. Oh and today her belly button fell off! So much change in so short of time. :( Sorry so long.... Take care and thanks for sticing around on here. :)
ad- i agree with mommy. i would cry over the silliest things ever toward the end of my pregnancy. i would watch shows on TV and just cry. i think jaso looked at me funny one night and i cried. its funny when you think back on it but not while its going on.
luvkayln- oh jaedyn is sick right now too. he has brochilitis, which is baby bronchitis. hes on a baby z-pak. im sorry addy is not able to fight that cold. its awful when they ont feel well and theres not much you can go. i suggest one of the vapor things from vicks or the other brand you plug into the wall. its calming and helps them at night. it has lots of lavendar. when jaedyn had a bad cold before i got it and meand him got the best night of sleep because it worked so well. its specifically for babies with colds.
mommy- how are the babies doing? i will send you a private message now.
ad_06: I'm happy to see you talked to your mom & are feeling better :) I hate to tell you, but the emotional roller coaster only gets worse. I'm normally very mellow & even keeled. I started to get mote emotional towards the end of my pregnancy & would argue that I wasn't ;) After I gave birth, I couldn't believe how emotional I got! I would cry at the drop of a hat. Poor dh would tell me to discuss why I'm feeling sad & we'll work it out, but I didn't even know what set me off or why. It wasn't easy... Your baby's name is so personal. I'm like sbumblebeeo. We wouldn't tell anyone our names beforehand because I didn't want to hear anything negative or perceived as negative ;) Hang in there!
Sbumblebeeo: We'vd had to supplement my breast milk with formula ever since my babies were born because breast milk is fewer calories & my babies were underweight. So, whenever I breast feed, the babies would be hungry sooner. When I pump, I have to add 1 tsp of formula for each 3 oz of breast milk. So, it's definitely not that your breast milk isn't enough for Shelby, but breast milk in general just isn't as many calories & so she'll be hungry sooner. Some people supplement by using formula at night because they'll sleep better, but you do what works best for you :) Oh! I need a nipple shield too & I'm still using it because Richard can't latch on. In the NICU, they said it was better to use the nipple shield anyway with smaller babies because they don't exhaust as many calories, trying to work harder for the milk.
