Chances of Clomid working with only one tube

I'm 32 and we have been ttc for 2 1/2 years.  Two months ago we went to a RE and the HCG showed that one of my tubes is blocked and the Dr doesn't feel surgery will help.  I took Clomid on days 3-7 of my cycle and am wondering what the chances are of it working with only one working tube.  Any ideas?  Anyone had success?  I'm also wondering what the chances are this will work the first time???

The Ovidrel is hcg that tells your body when to ovulate.  It gives you pretty precise information about when you'll ovulate so you can more accurately time things.  At least that's my understanding.  It's an injection, but I'm a needle phobe and had it today and it wasn't too bad!  I expect to ovulate in the next 36 hours!!!!

Baby dust to all!

I too have only one tube due to a ruptured ectopic preg at 10wks.  I am about to start clomid again because I was on clomid when I got preg the last time due to pcos.  I have never had to take anything along with the clomid.  Does these other things help? and was wondering if anybody with pcos and only one tube (laparotomy) have then gone on to become preg!

Thanks for the info and congrats to you!!!!

I haven't been able to conceive at all.  I don't ovulate normally (I had only 4 periods on my own last year) and also have the blocked tube, which all contribute to my problem.  I'm very hopeful Clomid and the trigger will do the trick!!!

Thanks again and best of luck to you too!

When I got pg with my son, it was with IUI but no follie stimulating drugs.  We did use hcg trigger to help with timing but no stim drugs.

This pg, I tried to do IUI again with no follie stim meds, but for 4 cycles in a row the follie was on the bad side.  So after that, we did follistim, hcg and trigger.

You start follistim early in your cycle (around cd 3 or 4, just depends) and you inject it daily.  Your RE will monitor your follie development with ultrasound and when the follie(s) get big enough, you do the hcg to trigger ovulation.  I always had IUI 36 hours after the trigger.

But just so you know.. I wasn't able to conceive on my own even before I lost my tube.  I lost my tube as the result of an ectopic from IUI.  My cause of infertility is unknown.  Well I guess I'm not actually infertile, I just need help of IUI.

best of luck to you!!

Is the follistim like Ovidrel (given one time a cycle)?  We're going to try IC the first time and then head to IUI if that doesn't work but will be using Ovidrel each time.

Did you use fertility drugs to conceive or was it natural?  If drugs, do you mind if I ask which you used?

That's kind of why we elected not to have surgery.  I read the chances it'll close again are quite high.

I'm sorry to hear you had such problems and hope your next step (IVF I presume?) works for you!

I to have only one tube. My right tube is blocked, I had 2 IUI cycles with clomid knowing this and the first one failed and the 2nd ended in an ectopic. I had surgery to try an open it and my RE did open it but after 6 months of trying on our own I had another HSG and it showed it to be blocked again. We are being more agressive with this cycle do to that. Tanker Chic is right it does only take one to get the job done the main thing is hoping the good side follies bust first.

I have had success twice with just one tube.

The clomid might help give you some extra follie development on your good side.  It just depends on the cycle.

You are seeing an RE now so that it a good thing.  Try this for a couple of cycles, if it doesn't work, you can try something more aggressive.

best of luck..
