Follicle size

Hi laidies! This is my first month on 50mg of clomid, cd 4-8. I just got back from my u/s today to see how big my follies were. (cd 12) My biggest were only 14mm and 9mm. So now i have to wait 2 days for another u/s to see if they've gotten any bigger. My RE is hoping that my 14mm will be at least 19mm, and if it is, i will do the hcg trigger shot thursday night and have my iui on saturday. I'm just wondering, has anyone ever had this happen to them? Does anyone know how many mm's a follicle grows each day? Also, is it possible that my 9mm will mature enough to have a possibility of getting fertilized? My RE said that if conception does not happen for us this month, then he will up my dose to 100 mg, so that will hopefully produce more than one mature follicle therefore having a higher chance of conception. Since i already ovulate on my own, i figured the 50 mg would produce multiple follicles but i guess not. Any help or advice would be awesome! Thank you!

I"m in the same boat as you (except planning on IUI Thurs or Fri). I'm waiting for 1 to grow but 2 others are a good possibility (out of 8). Amazing how these drugs work, eh?

Hey girls! I just wanted to let everyone know that my iui went great yesterday! We had 45 million sperm with good motility after the wash! I had to go back today for another u/s to make sure i ovulated yesterday, and i did! Yay!! They gave me progesterone suppositories to take for the next 15 days, and if af still hasn't come then to take a test and call them with the results. But if af shows up before the end of my suppositories, then to stop taking them and call to set up for another iui for next month. We're hoping for good news. Now on 1dpiui, can't wait till the end! Come on BFP!!! Good luck for all of us!

ok so good news today! On tuesday i had 2 follicles 14 & 9mm. Today, my 14 grew to 17.5mm but my 9 stayed. Plus my lining got thicker, it's at 6.5. It was very thin, probably b/c of the clomid, i've heard that happens. So now on saturday night at 10 i will give myself the hcg shot, and monday morning we get the iui done. My RE says my 17.5 follie will be the perfect size by then, so i'm happy. Waiting,waiting, and more waiting! That's all i do! Come on 2WW!

So...how much longer on your tww? I'm nervous about tomorrow. We'll see if they've grown any. I'm hopeful, but realistic, so we'll see. I will have an update tomorrow!

From what I understand, they normally grow approx. 2mm per day (please correct me if Im wrong).  I responded well to Clomid, big follies (av. 20-22mm on CD12)) big then again, I ovulate on time every month, so putting me on Clomid is stupid anyway.

Just wanted to add that clomid can delay ovulation for many women, so your follicles may still have several days to develop :-)

same with me. my first month i took 50mg clomid and the biggest my follies grew was 15mm and the rest stayed at 10mm. the next month i went to 100mg and had two one at 28mm and one at 18mm in the TWW now. I dont want to give your hopes up because you will learn doing all this that you never do really know. sometimes stuff happens that you can really predict, but i would say that it dosent look good this month so far. like i said though things could happen. Good Luck and pray to the follie gods to let them grow.

My first month I took 100mg cd3-7.  My follicles were 10, 8, and 7.  I also had to go back in 2 days and the 10 only grew to an 11.  They increased my dose to 150mg cd3-7 and that month I had a 27 and 15.  They project that the follicles will grow 1-2 mm a day.  Good luck.  I know how it is to want the first month to work for you.  As each month goes by, you get more disappointed.  Keep your head up!  It will work!
