Thanks for your comment. I feared as much. It'd be wonderful to think that taking DHEA could be the answer to all this heartache but I suspect, like you, that it's not that simple! good luck to you.
I just had this conversation with my doctor a few weeks ago (after 5 failed IVF cycles), asking if I should be taking DHEA, as I have been reading about positive results with infertility (older eggs "performing" younger). My doctor did not recommend it, as there just isn't enough proof (through studies) that DHEA is helpful and not harmful. He informed me that he did a lot of studies on DHEA in the past and found more concern with the levels of that hormone in a women’s body, the potential effect on a baby, long term effects, ect... I know there are many women on this forum who have taken DHEA and swear they got pregnant because of it. It's very possible that it did have something to do with it, but I have decided to listen to my doctor and not take it.
I took DHEA after blood tests revealed that my levels were a little low! Once they were up, I stopped (they were actually out of the high range)...I am hoping to get another test next week to see where they are now!
I know that there are a lot of people who self-medicate with it, but that's just not for me! A simple blood test by any doctor will tell you if you are low and if you are, then supplements might be for you!
