FET process

Hi Ladies
I'm due to start my first FET cycle this month. I was just wandering if any of you could help me understand what exactly is involved from start to finish. My DH and I left our clinic last week feeling a little confused with info overload!! I thought it may be easier to absorb from someone who has already been through the process. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I have been told that the gestone injections have now stopped in the UK. Is there any other stuff I can take instead?
xx

hi there.

just on day 5 post my 2nd FET. first unsuccesful. typically you take a nosespray or similar to downregulate your system (gives the drs "control" of your cycle), then you start taking oestrogen supplements, and closer to transfer progesterone (typically a vaginal gel). aspirin is also prescribed and obviously Folic Acid and B-complex vits to be taken throughout. on day of transfer you takke all meds as normal in morning. 2 hours before transfer you start drinking water (your bladder needs to be full for the actual transfer, so that womb can be seen clearly on scan for insertion and deposition of embryo). you can go to the toiler immediately after the transfer, as by this stage you will prob be bursting! they will give you a 2 week wait (2WW) protocol (selfcare), and you usually continue with all meds. depending on how "old" your embryo was upon freezing (day 1-5) your bloodtest for pregnancy will be 12-14 days after transfer. DONT TEST EARLY. it wrecks your head when its neg. good luck
