HSG Test

Good Morning  and Good Evening to some!

I may have to get a HSG Test int he future, I was wondering if anyone has had this done.

I have no Ins so I also want to see what some of your ladies paid to get this test done.

I have called the hospital to see what they charge for someone with no Insurance and I am just waiting on a call back

Thanks,
Lynn

Hi, I had the HSG test done today. My right tube is partially open. I am elated. It takes less than ten minutes, no anesthesia, a little painful (feels like cramping during your cycle). I do not know the cost because my insurance paid the entire bill. Oh, and I had minor bright red spotting afterwards.

I was awake the whole time, def no need to be put under.  The prep is what takes long, but the actual xray is done in less than 10 minutes.

The HSG test takes a few minutes and I was awake.  They shoot dye inside you and look around to make sure everything is ok like Esmie wrote about. You get cramps for a little while but that is about it. You are supposed to take ibuprofen prior to the test and someone should drive you because the cramps come and go for a little while after.

Thanks for the info!

My doc wants to do it but not yet, we are trying to see if the clomid will get me ovulating first, Im on round 3 and just added Metformin and take Provera to get AF

I assume you were awake for this, some say they were put to sleep

This is actually one of the initial tests that are done when you've been deemed "infertile" for at least a year.  This test will show if you have any blockages in your tubes, so def it's a good idea to get this done the sooner the better I think.  I had this done in Feb and I was pretty nervous about it.  What happens is that the radiologist inserts a catheter into your cervix, similar to having IUI.  Only difference is they shoot a special dye while doing the xray at the same time. I was able to see each scan taken and the radiologist was kind enough to go over the scan with me.  Rest assured, my tubes were clear and uterus looked great:)  Definitely not my greatest experience but it wasn't awful either.
Best of luck to you!

well like i said, i may have to get this done someday if the drugs arent working. I dont have ins so I am doing the cheaper route first!

I am still waiting on a call back form the hospital but i will prolly call tomorrow morning!

I was making lunch for my gramma earlier and I had this sharp pain in my left pubic area, the pain also was kinda in my left upper thigh. it passed in a couple of min. I was like wow wtf is that?  I have had some small menstrual cramps all day but I am on provera and just started the metformin 4 days ago.
