Had HSG

I just had the HSG yesterday 11/20/09, the Dr told me that not to have sex until 24 hours. Therefore I will give it a try tomorrow. The test was not painful but uncomfortable it was quick. The test came out great no blockage. Now we have to get a sperm count. I have read in this site that women have gotten prego after HSG, hopefully we have that luck. I would love to surprise my Hubby and daughter for the Holidays. Yes, I have a 13 yr old child but it took forever. Can anyone tell me what may be next for me since all my test are good, and can i actually get prego after HSG.

Thx
Lizzy

Hey
i've been reading a few success stories on here about HSG test, i just had mine yesterday and they said everything was fine as i had no blockages so does that mean it can still increase your chances of gettin pregnant in 3 months or is that just for people who have minor blockages?

I got pregnant 2 months after my HSG.  Well, they cleared my tubes in a similar fashion during surgery for other stuff, but all in all it's the same.  I ovulated the first month and no dice, but the second month we used Preseed and it worked!  I am now 10wks 4 days.  This was after 3 years of trying - 7 months on clomid, 2 IUI's and 2 IVF's.  It was also my 3rd HSG, but I had other issues that I think this last surgery finally resolved and that's why it worked.

Good luck to you!  It CAN happen!

I had a HSG in April.  Theoretically it could clear out any debris in the tubes.  It didnt work for me, but that doesnt mean it wont work for you.

I have had more or less the same diagnostics as Nat76.  Laparoscopy and hysteroscopy and a differeny type of HSG done while they are actually looking inside you. They removed some adhesions from one of my ovaries while doing the Lap.  Things like that do not generally show up in other diagnotsic tests.  Since having the Lap I have managed to get a positive pregancy test every single month.  Unfortunately, the positive test lasts only for one day, so beleive that we are dealing implantation/endmetrial problems. (possibly clotting or immunological disorder)  The doc has run some bloodwork to see if I have any disorders and I will get my results Dec 4.

I have tried clomid but that thinned out my uterine lining.  Am currently on my third cycle of Femara.  Hopefully third try is lucky, because the RE wants to move on to IUI + injectables which is pretty expensive.

Best of luck to you.  I hope that the HSG  "clears out the cobwebs" and that you get your BFP soon.

I did the HSG test about 18 months ago.  My obgyn told me that sometimes the test can help with fertility.  She told me that sometimes there won't necessarily be blockages, but little bumps that can trap the sperm.  Some of those bumps can be removed with the HSG test just because the dye was pushed through.  It didn't work for me, but it might for some people.

Good luck!!!
