20 is very young. I typically hear women in their late 30s and early 40s getting this type of fertility treatment when they are unable to conceive naturally or no success after trying for so long. its pretty serious and having a child is as well. There is so much to iui then you think. There is lots of tracking involved, patience, medications, and money as well. Are you lesbian? Not judging, but I just wondered why you, at a young age would want a child alone. Enjoy life. You have so much time.
I'm with sheaby. I'm not quite sure why you would want to do an iui when you're only 19 and single. And if your username is confusedgirl, I would think that MAYBE you're too young and confused to go through this big process.
More than likely, no reputable doctor will do an iui on a young single female. First of all, you need a donor for IUI, unless you plan on doing AI, which is still a long shot and really expensive. My advice is to wait until you are in a long-term relationship and try to conceive naturally. IUI is for those who have problems with their fertility, not for women who just want to have a baby by themselves. You may want to take on a nanny position or work in daycare to get your baby fix. Raising a child alone is very difficult and I'm sure most women do not choose that life. Wait until you have another parent who is just as involved, you are financially stable, emotionally stable, and mentally stable.
