IVF Progesterone: shots or tablets???

Hey ladies

Just a quick question- can anyone share their experiences with PIO vs. vaginal tablets.  My RE says success rates are the same and I can choose.  I will totally go with the tabs if they are just as good.  But I didn't come this far to let something like a shot (granted I hear it is the worst) hold me back.  Any thoughts?

Did you get pregnant with your first IVF cycle and how long did you have to wait to get a positive result.  I start my cycle the end of this month and will have my transfer next month. Let me know how things went for you.

I was on both with my IVF protocal and now I'm pregnant. I did the shot once a day and the suppositories twice a day. Now I'm scared to stop taking it. I was soppose to stop at 9wks and I at 10wks and still using the suppositories. I'll run out at 12 wks.

My RE actually prefers the vaginal suppositories. I believe he uses prometrium...but I think it has to be vaginally, as opposed to orally, since vaginally delivers the progesterone directly where it's needed and doesn't have to go through the entire system before delivering the hormones. Best of luck!

i just responded to this on the other post! : )   i use the oral capsules, but as vaginal suppositories (i have in the past-using shots now) they weren't bad at all, and weren't super messy or anything.. i was afraid to bd with them since i was afraid it would "push" the medicine out.. but i had some OHSS this cycle anyways so even on the shots we couldnt' bd anyways.. i'll be going bakc to vaginal capsules next time!!

At one point I was given the progesterone tablets (to be put under the tongue) but my cycle was cancelled and the next time I was given the vaginal suppositories.   The nurse said the doctor thought they were better.   Now I am not sure if you mean suppository or actually a tablet...but that's my thought on the matter.  I would ahve preferred oral method as it really ***** having to use vaginal suppositories twice a day...Yuck...at least the suppositories are better than the cream. I've never tried the shots....but I have give my self two shots of lovenox everyday during this pregnancy and I hate doing it.

Here's my preference
Oral lozenges
Vag suppositories
Vag cream
shots  (at the bottom)
