Infertility : (

Hi Everyone,

So, I'm completely new to the forum and  about a month ago the doctor informed me I have Preovarian Failure.
I was just wondering if there was anyone in the community who was in a similar situation.
Thanks!

Oh yeh. One thing the doctors said could be the case with the pituitary gland is a tumor on the gland, that would cause increases hormone levels. But they luckily that's not the case.

Yeh, the pituitary gland is definitely part of the problem. Both my gyno & my RE said that it's making more hormones to make up for my what my ovaries aren't doing.  The only problem was to figure out why my pituitary gland was working so hard.  They ruled out all of the obvious problems like autoimmune and genes & my ultrasound showed no follicles in my ovaries.  I checked & my FSH was high for all four blood test. Thank you for thinking of me.
My appointment went well. I got copies of all of my test from the RE and I took notes on what was important.  Thanks again for  the help! I'm still trying to learn it all.

Wow, I have been rolling around the thought that your problem may be pituatary related. I am just guessing of course, I am not a professional. Then, this am there is a poster asking about pituatary inhibitors. Being as the pituatary is responsible for FSH, Lh, etc. It could be related. I asked her some questions, in the event it may also apply to you. It may be something different entirely, but it is one possible cause. I am curious to see if she answers and what they are. HTH

If he/she said diminished reserve or no reserve, they are probably referring to high FSH. That is not normal for someone your age. I would ask a lot of questions. I would also ask for copies of the tests that they ran. I keep a file of every test I have had. If I ever change drs, I have the info on hand and don't lose valuable time or $ retesting.  A woman of 18 can certainly have these problems, but it is very, and I stress very uncommon. Besides blood work, have they done any other tests? Do you know what day of your cycle they did the blood work? At your age, I would be more inclined to think there was another influence on the FSH# than low reserve. Take a note pad with you and jot down little bits of info. It's easy to forget what they say shortly after leaving. Don't try to write everything, lol. Just little side notes. I hope tomorrow's appt goes well and you get a better understanding so you know where to start. Just click on my name and send a message if I can help in anyway.  Good luck!

I went to an RE. What I know so far, is that I either do not have an egg reserve anymore (or at least I have a tiny  one) or something in my body is keeping my ovaries from releasing eggs.  As of now, there has been no ovulation for 6 or 7 months... I know my estrogen levels are low, I don't remember my FSH but I had a few hormone levels that were way too high.
I have another appointment with my RE tomorrow.
Thanks for the all the help you can give, I really appreciate it!

When the dr said "Preovarian failure" did he/she explain? Is that meaning high FSH and diminished reserve? Ovarian failure encompasses many different problems. From not ovulating at all, to sometimes ovulating, etc. Is this a reg MD or an RE? Not trying to be nosey, just a little more info to see if I could help in any way.
