how long does it take for cycsts to disappear?

I'm afraid this cycle I have a cycst caused by clomid.I've took the clomid ,but didn't get pregnant.I have some light pains on lower back on the left side....

This is my second cycle with clomid ,but the first cycle was last year Nov and got preg. and then MCed...

I'm not being monitered by my OB.So wouldn't know via US

The question I have is should I take a break from clomid next cycle and try naturally so if there is any cyst ,hopefully it would go away.

How long does it take actually for cycts to disappear? Thnx

I'm still TTC... I have not ever been pregnant yet.  I did quite a few cycles, like 6-7 on Clomid, and it didn't work for me.  Now I am on Follistim injectables and I seem to be responding a little better to that.

I too, got a huge cyst from not being monitored while on Clomid.  The thing was, I was developing follicles, but they weren't releasing they were just growing and growing which caused a ton of pain! My recommendation is if you are able to be checked and monitored why you take it, it's a good idea.

I had to wait a month or so for the next cycle to come around and they checked me then to make sure it was gone.

Best of luck!

My RE says its pretty common for them to resolve in 1 to 2 cycles. Last time mine was 30 mm which is HUGE and it was gone by the next cycle. Yes, you can still ovulate and even get pregnant with cysts. It is just not a good idea to take clomid or other stims when you have them. Both my RE and my acupuncturist told me stories of women who had gotten pregnant when they were taking a cycle off do to cysts.

I had to have a cyst removed and I was being monitored using fermara(similar to clomid).   I didn't have any pain nor did I even know I had a cyst but after two months of not going away, I had a procedure to remove it.

I am concerned that you would take clomid without a doctor monitoring you which is not a good idea.   I know doctor visits are expensive, but your health should always come first.  Maybe you don't have a cyst, but you should go to the doctor to find out what is causing the pain.

Hi amandamae1126:

I think I have a cyst this month because just the ady before AF I was having some decent pain on my lower back left side..I never had this before....I know it's not my kidney since it's too low where the pain is....I understand what u saying being on and off the clomid..but I've been reading alot on the internet that this is what most doc.s do if you have a cysts caused by clomid..take one month off so it would go away....I wanna take clomid more than anything but in the mean time dont wanna cause bigger problems

hi 10_07:I can't make my mind ;thats why looking out for help.I know that the best way to know is US..but since I'm not being monitered can't do it either..thnx for the reply

I had a 30mm cyst 2 months ago from clomid. It resolved on its own in 1 month, which I thought was pretty good considering the size! I found out today that I have 3 cysts at my baseline US. My RE thinks they should be gone by my next cycle. Unfortunately it is a common side effect and from the symptoms you described you could have a cyst. Both months that I had them I did feel cramping and lower back discomfort. I would follow your instincts and if you honestly feel like you have a cyst, wait a month. You don't want to take clomid if you have a cyst. Cysts can produce excess hormones and can even rupture if you use the clomid. My OB did the same thing- just send me on my way with 3 months of clomid (this was a few years back). It is a good idea to be monitored because that is the only way you will know if you are on the right dose, if its working, and to monitor for uterine lining, not to mention checking for cysts. Good Luck to you!

Why do you think you have a cyst? Have you been in pain for a while? That's usually the first sign of one. I just went through this myself and had u/s today to confirm it's gone. Mine only lasted a few days, but some can take a cycle or two to disappear. It it's fairly recent pain it could be due to af that has or is about to arrive. It could be from a cyst that already burst. Or the pain could be due for other reasons.

If you can determine that u don't have one, I would say to go on with the clomid. I say this because it messes with ur hormones and each month ur body tries to adjust and do the right thing. If you take it on and off, you can really screw with your hormones and confuse your body from month to month. But of course, you don't want to take it for too long as other problems will arrise.

And I wouldnt suggest taking it without being monitored, but understand if that is what you need to do.
