Baseline u/s before every Clomid cycle?

Do you ladies have a baseline u/s before you start every cycle of Clomid to check for cysts? I have never had one and wondering if I should.

Yes before cycle day 3 I would get blood and u/s checked to make sure there were no leftover follies (same as cysts?) and that it was okay to stimulate again.

Yes, I go in on day 5 for a baseline ultrasound & start clomid that same day - then I go back on day 12 for an ultrasound - each time on day 12 I have mature follicles - so I do the trigger shot and then timed intercourse.  The dr insists on watching closely with ultrasounds and I find that it makes me more comfortable knowing they are monitoring it that close

Hey I just went to my OB today and she just gave me a script for the clomid and didn't mention doing an u/s or anything.  And no baseline u/s either....this discussion is making me wonder if I should call and ask more questions.  I am still undecided if I want to start it this next cycle anyway...I am thinking of just seeing how the bloodwork turns out first.

I did have a baseline u/s on CD 2 every month I used Clomid.

I seems to me that it depends on who prescribes the clomid. If it's from a regular obgyn, they usually don't do all the monitoring; but if it's from an RE, they tend to always do a CD3 to check for cysts and then a CD12 or so to check the progress of the follicles. Hope the next cycle works out for you!

I did have a u/s for the first time after my second cycle but that was to check for follies...I believe the nurse did say I everything looked good and I did not have cysts but I could be wrong. I am still waiting on AF. I am on CD 30 and I am pretty sure she is coming today. If I do get it I am going to see what they say about me getting a u/s befoe I start my next cycle. Thanks for the info ladies :)

I was like bam, had internal exam to check for cysts after every clomid cycle.  After my 3rd clomid cycle I did get a cyst.
Good luck!

My OB gave me my first rounds of clomid. Told me to take 50mg the first cycle, 100mg the second and 150mg the third. If I wasn't prengnant then he would refer me. I had no u/s, nothing. Needless to say they didn't work and I have moved to injectibles and now IUI's with injectibles. But if an RE gave it to you, I would think you would be watched more carefully (thats where they make their money - u/s!)

Thanks, I had not heard of it until someone on here mentioned it to me. I will call my dr on Monday and schedule one....if AF arrives.

I didn't have a u/s, but I did have to go in at the end of every cycle and the dr would do an *internal* exam for them.  Feet on stirups, hand up who-ha :)

Yes, we did every time before starting it, just to double check that there were no cysts. It actually suprises me that some doctors don't do it, because if you start a cycle with Clomid and do have cysts that could be harmful.
