Ovulation count 14 out of 30?

Husband and I have been trying to conceive for nearly 18 months.  We're both 36.  Recently had blood tests, went to docs for results today.  Told that the 21 day ovulation count has come back low (14 out of a possible 30) - we were told not to worry about this until we have the results of hubby's sperm tests?  My menstrual cycle is regular on a 28 - 30 day cycle.  But what does the low count mean please?

...just wanted to add that a 30 would be very high, unless you're on fertility meds and ovulate more than one follicle :-)

14 is a very good number! In general, you want to see a number over 10 in a non-medicated cycle, and over 15 if you're on fertility meds. I'm really not sure why your doctor would say that was low either. Best of luck to you!

I don't know why they would tell you that was low. Unless they confirmed what day you ovulated, it could be quite high. If your cycle is 30days this time and you o'd around cd16, it is only a 5dpo progesterone count. It could be much higher at 7dpo. The test is ideally done 7dpo. Often times drs do the test on cd21. That just assumes that all women ovulate on cd14. Which is simply not true.

I was told that 14 is good. A number over 5 means you ovulated but they like to see 15. So I wouldn't worry you ovulated. If you are prego your progesterone will keep rising so maybe thats why 14 was bad to them.
