PCOS

I just got the results of the ultra sound back from my obgyn and she thinks I might have PCOS. I called the re and made an appointment for December 22. Just wondering if anyone with PCOS who is ttc can tell me what type of treatments are available and what the chances of successfully concieving are. Thanks!

Thanks ladies for your help. I do feel a lot better now. I will just have to wait until my doctor's apt and see what he says. My fiance hasn't been tested yet, but he will have that done soon.

I would say if youare getting positive OPKs then you probably are ovulating on your own but your doctor can help you figure out if you are ovulating ... I would also suggest that you get your husband tested if it is taking you a really long time to get pregnant.  My husband also has low morphology so there is likea  5% chance we would get pregnant on our own if I did ovulate (which I don't) so IVF is our only chance for success.

I have PCOS and my symptoms and meds are just like kaproveas.  Unfortunately, I have not been about to conceive. Been trying for about 6 years now.  I just finished my first round of IVF and i am patiently waiting for the results.

Yes! PCOS is a huge hindrance but now that you know you have it your DR can treat it accordingly.  Let me know if have to take metformin bc I can give you some very helpful hints.
Good Luck to you.

Thanks for your helpful response. What was confusing me when I tried to search for information regarding my odds for concieving was that they kept saying since you don't get periods, you don't ovulate and you can't get pregnant. My periods are very regular and I have gotten positive opks for the past 6 months so I assumed I ovulated (put I guess I might not have). I see now that there are different levels of PCOS and I will just have to wait and see what the re tells me. Thanks again!

I have PCOS .. I have it really bad though to the point where I don't get periods at all.  I am on metformin to help with the PCOS .. It does help me loose weight and with the pain from the cysts on my ovaries.  The only way that I am able to concieve is through IVF but there are alots of women who have periods and ovulate with PCOS and get pregnant on their own or with the help of metformin and clomid.  I had a FET 2 years ago which result in my DS who is now 16 months old .. I just had another FET done 7 days ago so we will see what the results are from that soon .. There is hope in being able to concieve but it is helpful to see an RE if it has been trying for a while.
