Please help

Hi,
I am 35 and married. We are trying to conceive. Recently my doctor tested my progesterone level and it came out as .09 at mid luteal phase on day 21. I have not been ovulating for two months before. I have an appointment with OBGYN next month. I am considering hormore therapy. It will be great to hear from any of you who have been through such similar situation and have been able to conceive. Please advice..

Thanks,
D.

Debbie,

Based on your progesterone level, it seems that you are definitely not ovulating.  Usually, the doctors want to see a level of 10 or higher to verify ovulation.  I'm not sure what your medical or TTC history is, but by hormone therapy, did you mean progesterone therapy?  I know a lot of women here use progesterone during their luteal phase.  In your case though, since it seems you are not O'ing on your own, you might want to try Clomid or Femara, which are both medications taken during the first part of your cycle to induce ovulation.  Both medicines are similar in that they trick your body into producing more estrogen, which then leads to more and better quality follicles/eggs.  Clomid seems to have more side effects (moodiness, ovarian hyperstimulation, reduction of cervical mucus, and thinning of uterine lining) than Femara.  Personally, I have taken both and did like the Femara better, but everyone responds differently.  I'm sure your doctor can give you some advice on that.  If you have any other questions, let us know.  Good luck to you!

I went through two cycles of IUI with injectables.  I was on clomid, bravelle and ovidrel (trigger shot).  After my first cycle they doubled all of my doses.  The shots didn't bother me at all, luckily DH was very good at giving them to me.  Plus all of my shots were subcutaneuous (not into muscle) and I was able to use a pediactric needle.  My second try at IUI worked and Im now 10wks.

I felt fine on the hormones, in fact, I felt really balanced for the first time in a long time.  I have PCOS and was not ov and my lining was too thick at one point.

Good luck!!!!!!
