Also how effective are the shots? And, do they hurt or have any side effects? Also what is the posabilities if getting pregnant with the shots, is it to have more than one baby?

hello!   I also have PCOS and have done the injections (follistim to be exact) along will oral pills-femara and we did get pregnant!!! : )  however unfortuantely we miscarried later on, but it did work! (we also have sevre endo and male factor and one ovary!)  injections are painless, really easy to use..i do not use metformin since i'm underweight and i have regular periods every 30 days.. so instead i stick to a pretty low carb diet to keep my insulin levels as steady as possible throughtout the day... We were pregnant with only one baby, which is more common than multiples, but of course multiples are more common when using the injections than if not using anything... i got a mild headache from the shots, but nothing bad, otherwise no side effects!! GOOD LUCK! lots of people get preggo on here with the injectables that have pcos!! : )

Hey! I am in the same boat. I just finished my shots. They don't hurt (mine don't at least). They are pretty expensive if your insurance doesn't cover it. Many people with PCOS (I have it too) use metformin (I do) and have gotten preggo with just the metformin(I didn't). Try the metformin, and do the shots if you can. I have sore boobies and hot flashes on the meds and that is it. I got preggo with my first set of shots in January but miscarried in March. Hope this helps.

Good luck!
